 Freeboat began with one vessel — but the journey doesn’t end there. As we prepare our first Freeboat, we’re already looking toward the next chapters to come.

We’re seeking boats that are seaworthy, well cared for, and ready for a new life of adventure. Every boat will need some work — that’s part of the process — but the goal is simple: find ocean going boats that are ready to sail and continue their story rather than sitting idle in a harbor.   Freeboat connects boats ready for their next chapter with people who have proven their commitment to seamanship, stewardship, and community.

When a boat joins Freeboat, her story doesn’t end for her founding Captain. Those who set a boat free remain part of the legacy.  We encourage mentorship, teaching the next Captain how to sail her.  Donors are not only welcome but encouraged to join voyages and see her continue exploring the world.
